Your Android device may have impressive features and look great, but unfortunately, this can all come at a cost – terrible battery life!
As technology progresses and our phones get more and more advanced every year, battery longevity still seems to fall behind and some devices are left with an embarrassingly short ‘screen on’ time. Here at Cell Tech, one of the most common questions we get asked is ‘how do I extend my phone’s battery life?’ So if you’re tired of your phone dying before you’ve even had breakfast, read on for our 6 top tips to make the most of your battery life…
1. Find out what’s draining your battery most
On your android device, navigate to Settings > Battery to find out exactly what is draining your phones battery. This will give you a detailed break down of the apps and features that use the most/least battery and allow you to turn off the ones that you don’t use.
2. Reduce connectivity
Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and location services are all a real drain on your Androids battery life. Many of us have these features running all the time without thinking twice. Turning on ‘Aeroplane mode’ will switch off all these services in one simple go.
3. Keep your phone updated
There is a reason app developers are constantly updating them! Make things easy for yourself by checking for updates and completing them when you can to ensure they are best optimised for battery life.
4. Turn off vibration
While vibrate mode can be really handy when you’re in a meeting or can’t have your phone on loud, it could also be the reason your android device is losing life. This also goes for ‘haptic feedback’ (the light buzz your phone makes every time you touch a key). If your phone is losing life, it’s best to turn the vibrations off.
5. Switch off Google Hotwords
Again, this can be a really useful but draining feature on Androids. The ‘OK Google’ voice search means that your phone is always listening which can really hurt the battery. If you value battery life over the benefits of this feature, go into Google settings and turn it off.
6. Turn down screen brightness
It may be obvious, but having your phone at full brightness is one of the biggest battery killers there is. Even ‘auto brightness’ can set our phones to much brighter we actually need. Turn it down to a level you are comfortable with, and only increase in dim light if you really need to.
Follow these tips and we’re confident that you will start to see an improvement in your Android’s battery life. If you are still experiencing issues, or think your battery issues are more serious why not pop into one of our stores to have a chat with our experts!
